THE MALE PERSPECTIVE
The purpose of “The Male Perspective” is to dispel stereotypes and increase awareness of the experiences of Black men through open discussions, thought-provoking interviews, and sharing personal experiences that serve as a platform to highlight the diversity and depth of the Black male experience.
This episode of “The Male Perspective,'' Lana chats with Mark Tuggle, the editor of the upcoming book “Cultural Silence and Wounded Souls: Black Men Speak About Mental Health.” The conversation explores the various factors that discourage Black men from seeking mental health services such as systemic racism and stereotypes within the Black community. Mr. Tuggle shares the variety of healthy methods and tools available to enhance mental health as well as imparting the importance of Black men sharing their healing journeys with others. This episode of “The Male Perspective,'' Lana sits down with Author, Entrepreneur and Accountant - Spencer Hawthorne Jr. to discuss his children's book, “I Found a Dollar” which teaches children how to make wise financial decisions. Mr. Hawthorne shares the value of teaching financial literacy not only to children but adults as well in order to increase the generational wealth in Black communities. The conversation explores the importance of conquering the need for instant gratification and utilizing various means of investing to effectively manage and grow money. Mr. Chadly shares how his non-profit assists low income fathers of color navigate the family court arena with free legal clinics, co-parenting mediation and much more! On today’s installment of "The Male Perspective,'' Watez Phelps II, who is a K-12 educator in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation district, shares valuable insight on the disparity in treatment of Black boys in the public education system and the challenges of being a Black male educator in spaces where there are very limited support systems. This episode of “The Male Perspective,'' Lana sits down with Chike Uzoka - Licensed Financial Advisor, Speaker and Author of “The Teens Guide to Wealth.” Mr. Uzoka expounds on the various financial techniques that assist today’s youth in developing long-term economic stability and success. “The Teen’s Money Guy” also explains the value of obtaining life insurance as a teenager, the importance of developing entrepreneurship endeavors that are derived from personal purpose and the value of maintaining financial discipline. This episode of “The Male Perspective,'' Lana chats with Trevor Gabbidon - author of the children's book “Daughters Grow Up So Fast: From a Father’s Perspective” which explores the observations and thoughts of a father as he watches his daughter grow through various life experiences. Mr. Gabbidon also discusses the joys and learning moments he has had in his own fatherhood journey with his daughter. Reflections on parenting in modern times and the importance of imparting positive and healthy self esteem traits into children are also shared.
