Rather than rewarding celebrity influence or social media popularity, TBVA recognizes everyday people whose conversations preserve local history, inspire future generations, and strengthen community.
Each annual collection becomes part of an expanding digital archive documenting Black life through conversation.
Why the Awards Matter
Every community has conversations worth preserving. The Tapestry of Black Voices Awards documents the conversations shaping Black communities today. By celebrating educators, students, entrepreneurs, artists, organizers, business owners, and neighbors, TBVA helps create a lasting record of Black community life.
New conversations and award winners are added each year, creating an expanding archive of voices, perspectives, and experiences from Black communities across the country.
